1.表示原因、由來的 from
1. They were tiredfroma long trip.
(他們因長途旅行而疲累。)
2. My grandmother suffersfromrheumatism.
(祖母爲風濕所苦。)
3. He diedfromoverwork.
(他因工作過勞而亡故。)

1. rheumatism [`rumE,tIzEm] n. 風濕病
From可表示原因與由來，意思是「因……、由於……」。
例句三的 die from 是指間接的死因，而 die of 則是指直接的死因。
2.表示區別的 from
1. I cannot tell Annfromhe sister.
(我分辨不出安與她姐姐。)
2. His opinion is quite differentfrommine.
(他的意見與我的十分不同。)

From可用來表示區別與相異，意思是「與……、從……」。
3.表示原料的 from
Cheese is madefrommilk.
(起司是用牛奶做的。)

「從……、用……」的意思，指的是原料來源。因為加工讓材料產生變化，使得成品看不出來原有材料為何時，就要使用 from。如果沒有產生變化，一看就知道使用的原料，則是用 of。
